WHY PEOPLE LOVE IT

It Feels Less Like One Park and More Like Several Experiences Meeting in One Place

The appeal of Mulock Park is the mix. It is not only a place for children, and it is not only a place for a walk. An afternoon can move from a trail to public art, from the Great Lawn to Mulock House, and from active play to a quiet place beneath the trees without anyone getting back in the car.

That variety matters because the strongest community spaces are the ones people can use differently at different times of day, in different seasons and at different stages of life.

WHAT’S INSIDE MULOCK PARK

Six Features Worth Knowing Before Your First Visit

HERITAGE + CULTURE Mulock House

The restored heritage house has been adapted as a public community destination with gathering areas, the Chickadee Café and a gallery created in partnership with the Art Gallery of Ontario.

OPEN SPACE The Great Lawn + Three Lawns

Three lawns create room for picnics, programs, events and everyday gathering, with the Great Lawn serving as one of the park’s signature open spaces.

FAMILY PLAY Hollow Log Play Park

This natural discovery playscape uses water, sand, wood and climbing elements to interpret the lifecycle of a forest and includes accessible play features.

FOUR-SEASON RECREATION Woodland Loop

The skating trail winds through the trees and connects to a central rink. The area changes with the seasons, supporting winter skating and warm-weather recreation.

ART Public Art Across the Site

Public artworks are integrated into the landscape, allowing visitors to encounter art as part of the park experience instead of only inside a building.

WALKING + ACCESS Nearly 2 km of Paved Trails

Wide paved routes connect key areas of the park and support pedestrians, mobility devices and strollers.

MULOCK HOUSE + AGO

The Historic House Is Now Part of Everyday Community Life

Mulock House gives the park something a new-build greenspace cannot easily replicate: a direct connection to Newmarket’s history. The restored heritage property has been adapted for public use while remaining a defining architectural element of the site.

On the second floor, visitors can see selected works from the Art Gallery of Ontario’s Indigenous and Canadian collections in a 2,000-square-foot gallery. Public admission to the AGO gallery is free, though visitors should confirm current gallery hours before arriving.

CHICKADEE CAFÉ

Coffee, the Veranda and a View Toward the Great Lawn

Chickadee Café is located on the main floor of Mulock House, with seating inside and on the veranda overlooking the Great Lawn. The Town of Newmarket partnered with local operator A Million Mouthfuls Catering to operate the café.

Current visitor note · October 1, 2026: The Town’s current visitor information says Chickadee Café is temporarily closed after its grand-opening weekend while the team gets settled into the new space. Check the official park page before planning your visit around café service.

LIVING IN NEWMARKET ONTARIO

What Mulock Park Adds to Everyday Life in Newmarket

I would not put a number on what a park does for a property’s price, and I would be wary of anyone who does. Real estate value is shaped by many factors, and no single public amenity gives you a reliable dollar-for-dollar calculation.

What I can say is that people choosing where to spend their next chapter often describe the same things: somewhere to walk in the morning, somewhere to bring visiting family, somewhere children and grandchildren can enjoy, and somewhere that feels cared for.

When you are weighing a move within Newmarket, it is worth experiencing the community the way you would actually use it. Mulock Park is now part of that lifestyle conversation.

A home is the address. The community around it is the life you get to live there.
